Chatting with an assistant with HiTA on Canvas works .

The default view on the embedded HiTA app is a chat interface which allows you to query the knowledge base curated by your instructor for the course. There are a few notable differences in functionality that are mentioned below.

Resource Focus via the Navbar

The modules and lessons component in the navbar does not work the same way that it does on the full HiTA app in that clicking on it will open the lesson. Clicking on it in Canvas will instead focus the current conversation on that resource.

Reduced Functionality

To get the full experience, follow the link on the Visit HiTA button.

. You can swap the resource focus by clicking on a different file, or you can clear the focus by starting a new chat.

The full HiTA app has other features that are not available in the embedded Canvas version like and resource upload in conversations. HiTA also has other features like .

Future chats will be focused on that resource
screen sharing
module/lesson viewing
much the same way that it does on the full HiTA app
Clicking on the "Syllabus" resource has focused the conversation on that resource and opened it up on the side.
